Brandon's Story

Picture
I, Brandon Thurston, have been struggling with cancer (Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma) for the last eleven years. There were a few years (maybe 4 or 5) of which I was not in treatment and healthy enough to work. However, after the stem cell transplants, the total body radiation, nuclear medicine and monoclonal antibody, my life has been very difficult to even survive.

In December 2010, it was discovered that a new cancer was growing in my body and at this time, I continue to struggle with fighting this disease, Hodgkin Lymphoma with a newly developed chemo (Brentuximab) which was just FDA approved August 19, 2011.

My physical condition puts many limits on me as I am very weak, have osteoporosis with eleven vertebra collapsed. As my physical condition continues to deteriorate, I see that many things I would have like to done will be impossible in the near future. So it would be great to travel to sights I haven’t seen, attend Nas Car Races, spend time at the beach, spend time with a brother that lives in another state and be able to just get away a few times while I can still get around with help.
